Michael Phelps' solicitor declares his customer makes a point not to fit in grown-up imprison: The attorney representing the Martinsville teenager charged with shooting a classmate at West Middle School says his client doesn't belong in adult jail. Michael Phelps, 15, is accused of shooting 15-year-old Chance Jackson twice in the stomach on March 25th. Jackson is still recovering from the shooting.

A judge ruled Monday that Phelps will be tried as an adult. He is currently being held at the Morgan County Jail on $100,000 bond. "Michael has now spent two nights in Morgan County's jail as the only juvenile inmate there. When I spoke to him Tuesday he told me that he was terrified, understandably so," said attorney Steve Litz. Phelps is being held in isolation so he is not in contact with the adult inmates. A trial date has tentatively been set for July 11th.
